Saje Miro
Miro Saje was born in Novo mesto in 1965. He studied trumpet at the Academy of Music in Ljubljana and graduated in 1990 with professor Anton Grčar. During his studies he performed with The RTV Ljubljana Symphony Orchestra and The Ljubljana Opera House Simphony Orchestra.
At the age of 13 he joined the Krka Wind Orchestra. In 1990 he became its conductor. The Krka Wind Orchestra has attained international recognition and reputation under his conductorship. Its quality is confirmed by numerous awards won at international contests and performances.
He took his first conducting lessons with Antun Poljanič. Studying conducting with professor Jan Cober at the Brabants Conservatorium in Tilburg in the Netherlands, where he graduated in 1999, was an important milestone in his musical career. In 1995, 1997, 1999 he won the title of the best conductor in the International Wind Orchestra Festival Contest in Riva del Garda, Italy. In the year 2015, he has won the international wind orchestra competition in Linz, with the Austrian Landesjugendblasorchester Steiermark.
For many years, Miro Saje has been successfully teaching brass instruments at the Novo mesto Music School. Miro Saje is the president of the artistic council and a member of the presiding council of Association of Slovenian Wind Bands. He is the leader of introductionary level of schoolfor conductors, operated by Association of Slovenian Wind Bands. He attends important conducting seminars. He is conductor of the Slovenian Youth Orchestra. Since 2001 he has been a guest conductor of The Slovene Police Orchestra. In May 2004 he recoreded a CD with Rundfunkblassorchester Leipzig for Belgium publisher Beriato. He is well-known as a jury member and guest conductor throughout Europe and in the USA.
He has been a conductor of the Šentjernej Wind Orchestra since 2008. With his leadership, the orchestra has been growing through different projects and concerts and has in very short time become one of the best Slovenian wind orchestras.
